Remember the TV series "Lost?" Well, apparently as much as $400 million has been added into the Hawaiian economy ever since the show was first aired. Fans from far and wide not only enjoy the usual Hawaiian R&R, but also spend as much as 10 hours in a day checking out locations where some of the show's most memorable scenes were filmed.
"Lost" tours of varying lengths ranging between $79 and $209 are offered online. Fans of the show say that the tour is the reason they came to visit Hawaii. Men propose to their girlfriends at the same location that Jack and Juliet embrace and kiss for the first time on the show. Others their own Dharma suits and wear them during the tour.
The cast of "Lost" they really loved working in Hawaii, as one might imagine. Daniel Dae Kim, who played Jin, liked it so much that he didn't leave. He will soon be starring on the remake of "Hawaii Five-O," recently picked up by CBS. Kim has even invested in a restaurant in Honolulu, a burger joint called The Counter.
Kim's favorite place in Hawaii is Oahu, owing to its creature comforts. He says the sand in Maui is so fine it feels like walking on baby powder.
Henry Ian Cusick, who plays fan favorite Desmond, also recalls fondly his memories of time spent in the 50th State. He remembers working on the beach, looking at the whales, digging his feet into the sand until someone would call him saying he was needed on the set.
